In this final lesson, we'll look back over our study of Jack Levison's Fresh Air and we'll wonder together: where is the Spirit now? How / where do you discern the Spirit at work - in yourself? in others? How might your faith practices continue to be informed by what you've learned in this series?

Join us as we explore what scripture says about spiritual gifts and how we might discern a spiritual gift when we encounter it.
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12
Reflection questions:
- In v.7-11 Paul lists various spiritual gifts he sees in the church. What do you notice about the gifts he lists? Compare his list to the lists of gifts in: Ephesians 4:11-13, Romans 12:3-8.
- Based on your readings, what is the purpose of a spiritual gift?
- What spiritual gift(s) would you add to Paul's list? (e.g. what gifts have you witnessed in the church that achieve the right purpose but might not be listed out?)
- Recall a time that you notice someone leaning into their spiritual gift. What was the situation? How did you know God was at work in them?

This week, we tackle chapter 8 "Peter's Praise" of Fresh Air.
- In Acts 2, the followers of Jesus receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This gift manifests in their speaking in many different languages. Have you ever heard someone speak in tongues? What does “speaking in tongues” mean for you: in terms of your faith and your practice of Christianity?
- Levison observes that, rather than a confused babbling, the many languages of Acts 2 allows the story of what God has done to be heard clearly by all. Levison argues that “the purpose of ecstasy is to communicate a clear and comprehensible word that recounts God’s praiseworthy acts.” How does this perspective influence your views on speaking in tongues?
