- Read Mark 9:1-13. What is the lesson that Jesus learns from the Spirit? When has adversity in the midst of God’s will taught you a similar lesson?
- Levison writes, “The holy spirit sends us to places and people we would never otherwise choose to go to because only there, where our very existence is at risk, can we understand…that we too are God’s beloved.” (pp. 178-179) How is this observation at odds with the world’s definition of love?

- Levison observes, “The spirit exists in a community in a way that it does not quite exist within individual believers. The whole – the holy whole – is bigger than the parts.” What differences have you experienced between the presence of the Spirit individually and in community?
